RainReal rainfall. Steady, familiar, easy to drift off to.

Now playing: Rain — paused

Headphones for binaural beats: each ear hears a slightly different tone (for example 200 Hz and 202 Hz), and your brain hears the difference as a slow beat. Without headphones, both tones mix in the air and the effect does not work. On your phone, keep this page open: if the screen locks, the sound may stop. Binaural beats are a relaxation aid, not medical treatment.

What each sound is for.

Rain

Real rainfall, steady and even. Rain sounds are traditionally used to relax and to cover up irregular background noise.

Ocean Waves

Real waves breaking softly on the shore, rising and falling on a slow rhythm. Many people find the slow cycle itself calming before sleep.

Campfire

Crackling firewood, warm and steady. A cozy sound that masks household noise without demanding attention.

Gentle River

Soft water flowing over a stream bed โ€” constant, natural and easy to leave on all night.

Binaural Delta (2 Hz)

A slow 2-beat-per-second pulse, in the range traditionally associated with deep sleep. Use headphones, keep the volume low, and let it run under the timer.

Binaural Theta (6 Hz)

A drowsy 6-beat-per-second pulse, in the range traditionally associated with drifting off. A good pick for the first minutes in bed.

How it works.

Rain, ocean, campfire and river are real recordings that loop while you listen. The binaural beats are synthesized live in your browser with the Web Audio API, because they need exact tones in each ear. Pick a sound, press play, and set the timer: the sound fades out gently over the last 30 seconds so it never cuts off abruptly. For general information only — not medical advice.
